This morning I called Garmin Support about the issue and here was my response. So I deleted the software from my computer and downloaded the software again. So next time I tried skipping the optimization step but then the video won't play at all, which means I can't overlay any of the G-Metrix. The videos would not optimize and if I tried to cancel, the software would timeout. I've been really excited about using Garmin VIRB Edit for cycling data overlays on my races.Īfter I downloaded the software to my 2019 MacBook Pro and then uploaded my GoPro Hero 5 Black footage to VIRB Edit, it kept asking me to optimize the videos. Also weirdly enough for some reason it seems to always record 4 x video clips before failing every time I've tried to use it.Īpparently it has the latest firmware, any idea what's going on? I haven't tried to connect to it with the phone app yet, so it's possible the guy I bought it off had done something weird to the settings but I can't see anything wrong in the menus on the camera itself. Also the video is recorded as 4 x 200-300 MB clips which I thought was quite short. The camera still has power when I get to the end and the record switch is still active, but I only get a few minutes of video. There is still plenty of space on the SD card (32 GB Sandisk ultra), there is still plenty of power in the battery, the bike rides are only 15 minutes long and the gmetrix GPS track has recorded the whole ride.

So far it seems to kinda work, but it has never recorded video for the full duration of a bike ride correctly. I recently got a 2nd hand virb 360 and I've tried to use it a few times for short bike rides.
